Best Budget Minimalist Fall Decor for Your Sunroom

It’s September which means it’s time to bring out all the Fall Decor. Today I’m going to be sharing the Best Budget Minimalist Fall Decor for your Sunroom.

If you’ve been giving us a follow on our other social media channels, then you know that we are in the midst of a complete kitchen remodel.

I’ve got exposed 2x4s and no countertops plus lots of open cabinetry that still needs to be finished. So my house is quite hectic.

And to be honest, I was a little bit hesitant to think about going down to the basement and bringing up all of the Fall Decor.

But this is my favorite season of all and my favorite time of year to decorate.

So why would I allow chaos in another room to keep me from decorating one of my favorite place in my home?

So I thought this might be an encouragement to you. Whatever your circumstance may be. If you’re in a rental or if you’re going through a construction project. Or maybe the walls aren’t painted the color that you want it to be.

It doesn’t matter!

You should be able to create a space that will allow you to enjoy the season for your home regardless of other projects in the home.

Now our sunroom has always been a decorating challenge.

A long and narrow living room makes furniture placement tricky.

I’ve tried love seats – I’ve tried sofas and it’s always been awkward to find where to place them to where it would work for traffic flow.

Here’s how it looked before:

And the other issue is that we don’t have any electricity in this room. So I’ve always had to find creative ways to work around these issues and here are some of the ways that I fix that with this slight redesign.

So there is something new to the room. And that is this recliner.

I already had a second recliner that was in our bedroom and I moved that in here.

And these recliners have a cozy feel which is the best spot to relax with a good book and a cozy throw blanket.

Being able to find those recliners has been the perfect fit for this room.

The other addition to this room is a dining table.

Since we are making over our kitchen we did have an eat in kitchen area. But we’re wanting to create a food prep area in that spot.

So we moved that table into the sunroom to create a breakfast room.

And it’s a perfect spot to wake up, start the day with the sun shining and a nice cup of coffee.

It’s just lovely.

After taking down all of the spring decor, the spring wreaths and all of the nice fresh greenery, I wanted to bring in much more muted tones and fall colors for the season.

Burgundies and darker greens, maybe some rust color.

Since there is so much busyness happening in the kitchen and we’re a long way from being finished, I wanted to incorporate minimalist fall decor ideas for this years seasonal decorating.

Even the smallest touches of simple fall decorations can make a room welcome the new season.

I started by hanging these simple Fern wreaths.

They do have a little bit of burgundy added to the faux leaves –  which is perfect for the upcoming colder months.

You can use your favorite minimalist fall wreaths, like pine cones, pampas grass, or wheat wreaths.

For this side table that I have sitting between the chairs, I just added a couple of books.

I added the small vase that was a DIY textured ceramic vase that I made using baking soda and acrylic paint.

Here’s a similar one if you want to check that out.

I thought the texture of the vase would be an easy way to add to the fall theme.

Next I filled the vase with some burgundy eucalyptus.

Faux fall stems are a great idea to use. In fact, faux florals are many of my key pieces in my decor items I regularly use.

Wood accents are the perfect way to get that minimal look. This painted carved wooden box is another family heirloom passed down to me.

And I thought a perfect pairing would be this vintage photo.

This is my Gr.Gr. Granny Tanner and she is wearing a bonnet standing outside of the Old Homestead.

So now I could spend my mornings sitting next to Granny Tanner drinking my pumpkin spice latte!

And it’s just such a treasured picture of mine and I thought that those sepia tones would work perfectly for the fall season.

One of my favorite ways to add warmth and coziness to a room is by using throw blankets.

I added a plaid throw blanket to the chair.

I also used the same throw pillows in this room since they’re knit pillows and in neutral tones.

These are from Walmart and are super affordable. But they work still since they are knit and woven. So they still have that fall feel to them.

I kept our vintage trunk coffee table styling super simple. Here’s a similar trunk if you are looking for one.

I just added a couple of pumpkins. One of the pumpkins is a Chunky Knit Yarn Covered Pumpkin that I made a few years back.

I paired it with with orange boucle pumpkin and the textures look great together!

It is still one of my favorite fall DIYs. I do have a full tutorial video if you want to go and check that out.

There is a dresser in this room that was one of my first DIYs. It was a $15 find. And the makeover –  well, let’s just say I needed a hazmat suit.

It was in a junk house and it was very very dirty. But it turned out so beautifully. And it’s one of my favorite pieces that I have in my home.

To style this dresser I just added two items that were the only new decor purchases that I’ve made this year.

A small orange vase that I got from the Target dollar spot or Bullseye and then this fabric covered pumpkin in a gray color. It ties in the other gray elements that I’m going to be adding to the room.

Now here is a little secret!

So it looks like there is a lamp on the table it’s not actually a lamp. It is a vase that I had from Target –  the Threshold line – I think it’s the Magnolia collection.

It’s one of my favorite vases I’ve recently purchased.

wireless light bulb in a vase

I found these cordless rechargeable light bulbs on Amazon.

You simply put them in a regular plug-in lamp and they charge each time you turn them on.

Then you simply swap out the bulbs and there’s this attachment that you screw it into that allows you to turn the light bulb on and off.

They hold the charge for about 6 to 8 hours.

It’s such a great invention. In fact I have one in the lamp behind the recliner as well. So if you have a room that doesn’t have electricity like we do here in the sunroom, these bulbs are a perfect solution.

So let’s move on to the breakfast area.

The lighting over the breakfast area is a new addition as well.

It’s a pendant lamp that I got from Amazon.

I ran an extension cord from our kitchen along the baseboards and this has allowed us to have a spot where – if at night – we wanted to sit play cards or have a dessert, it’s a nice area that we can come in this room and have some extra light.

Since this is a breakfast area, I didn’t want to get too busy with a tablescape like I typically might for a dining room table.

For the centerpiece I put a woven hyacinth mat with a copper charger sitting on top of it. Now the little square plate that I added is also from the Tanner family.

That is Granny Tanner’s daughter’s china. It’s nice to have that piece of nostalgia in the room as well. For the centerpiece it’s just a copper pitcher with some beautiful fall faux ferns in there.

I just added some white simple plates that I got from Target. Then finished it off with these gray bowls I also purchased a couple years ago at Target.

Again it’s just a simple simple way to add touches of fall without much work.

I now have a space in the midst of my construction mess that I can just walk in here and have a moment to enjoy the season to have a quiet spot to go to without much clutter.

A minimalist approach to decorating with seasonal items is a great way to add fall decorating to your home without much effort.

So don’t let whatever chaos or whatever issues you’re having with your home keep you from finding joy and finding a way to decorate.

You can make your home whatever you want it to be and sometimes even the simplest touches are all that you need to bring the seasons change to a space.
