Celebrating Christmas Blog Hop
I love this time of year in blogland – where a group of us come together and share our homes for the season. This is the Celebrating Christmas Blog Hop.
I am so excited to be joining this group of talented ladies showcasing parts of our home for Christmas. Today I am sharing my front porch and how I’m adding hints of red to our exterior.
A special thanks needs to be given to our beautiful host of this blog hop. Leen from Sand Dollar Lane put all this together and it’s a good one! Of course, you won’t want to miss all the other amazing links at the end of this post.

This year’s Christmas decor is all about pops of red and I couldn’t wait to decorate our front porch.

Our Front Porch

I started by adding garland around the front door and hanging a simple wreath.
This is an old wreath form I’ve had for years that had seen better days.
So I gave it a quick update by adding new sprigs of faux greenery, some red berries and ornaments and topping it with a simple ribbon.
I love how all the red pops against our Limewashed exterior.
This side of the house gets a lot of direct sun, and last year we had fresh garland. But it didn’t last very long here in the Birmingham climate, so I opted for faux greenery this season.
Earlier this year, we gave our front porch an update. We installed the herringbone brick paved patio replacing an old dated clay tile one.
Then we installed the handrails and built these fun planter boxes.
Since they already were tall, I wanted to find a creative way to add color without having to purchase all new plants.
So I started by placing old wreaths from years past as the base.
Next I added some faux cedar greenery and a bunch of faux red berries that I got from Michael’s.
It was a simple way to add color and height at minimal cost!
I found the swags for a steal this year and hung them under each light.
For the windows, I used this red ribbon combined with a fun red stripe ribbon to create the bows and hung wreaths from each window.

Love the curb appeal! The red really pops against the white brick exterior of your home. I love the look of a wreath in each window, too. Plus, there’s nothing like sprucing up something you already have and making it look new again!
