Today, we are taking tours of our Summer Porches so welcome to Noting Grace! My name is Jen and I love to renew, create and decorate my home on a budget all while finding beauty in the blemishes.  You can tour my Almost Farmhouse here, or to learn more about me and my family, you can visit here.

Since we have been slowly transforming the exterior of our home these past few months, I am so excited to share with you our progress. When we took on the task of limewashing the exterior of our brick home, I knew the task was daunting, but I wasn’t prepared for the amazing results we’ve had!

Our porch just a few months ago is a sad comparison to what it is today. Since the limewash is the star, I wanted to keep things on the minimalistic side when it came to styling it for this season. So here’s how you can create a Simple Summer Farmhouse Porch you can easily style yourself!

Just look at how my DIY Glass Front door pops! So, when I planned on updating our front door, I knew the black would be a great neutral choice, but now it pops against the gray hued brick.

I framed each side of the door with planters and faux ferns that I had set out earlier this year. The only change I made here was swapping out my wreath.

Because I wanted this look to be simple, I hung a grapevine wreath with artificial boxwood hot glued to it.

Also, I added a small chalkboard to compliment the black accents.

I replaced the globes of my old exterior lights with these vintage Mason Jars and love how they bring that farmhouse charm to my front porch.

Seems like these resin gliders are my very favorite.

Now they are a focal point of my porch, beckoning me to shirk off my to do list of the day and sit and relax.

Adding a few cushions certainly cozies up the spot.

On the other side of my gliders sits a simple 3 piece bistro set that I found from a buy/sell/trade listing.

A simple arrangement of hydrangeas in a weathered wooden planter top the table.  The birdhouse is left over from my Spring porch decor.

I could barely snap pics of this without the momma bird and it’s baby occupants letting me know that I wasn’t welcome!

  1. Hi Greg – so sorry for the delayed response. We applied just one coat using an equal parts ratio of water to lime wash. We didn’t feel the need to top coat as we look forward to watching the limewash continue to weather and patina over time, but I know Romabio sells a Mineral Hardener that slows down that process. Hope that helps!

  2. Looking to use the Romabio lime wash on a boring buff colored brick and wish to get the more opaque finish you achieved. How much dilution did you use and how long did you wait between coats? Did you top seal?

  3. Jen – Your front porch is lovely. You have the best ideas! We love the framed wreath and chalkboard! Plus our initial is “F” so feel free to just ship the whole thing to Georgia LOL. Hugs to you and your family for a fabulous summer!

  4. Simple but beautiful! The wreath over that wire and wood item by the door is so pretty!

  9. Well it’s a good thing we don’t live closet to each other or that you’ve never invited me over… I’d never leave that porch. I adore it. Actually, I love the entire yard! So pretty.

  10. Your porch is so pretty Jen! I can’t believe those chairs are glider chairs, that is so cool. Don’t even get me started on those classic urns or the lush ferns either. They are completely fabulous. I love it all. Hugs, CoCo
