Vintage Farmhouse Powder Room ORC Week 2 – this week, we made great progress installing Luxury Vinyl tile and beadboard panels.

It’s amazing what one week can do, especially when fall break allows extra time to put in the work. This week, we made great progress installing luxury vinyl tile and beadboard panels for week 2 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling It Home and House Beautiful.

This week, we finally tackled the bathroom floors to match our existing floors in the Laundry Room we completed last fall.

As I mentioned last week, we had tiles left over from our Kitchen Floor install and this was so easy that I’m ashamed that it took us so long to tackle this project.

Since I’ve given detailed install directions in the post linked above, I won’t repeat it here, but the full tutorial and materials you need to know is listed in my Kitchen Floor Post.

First, we removed the old toilet and then prepped the floor for tiling.

With limited time and tiles, we opted to orient the tiles running in the opposite direction.  It made cutting the tiles so much easier and grouting was a cinch!

While I grouted the floor, Trent updated the original floor vent. He scuffed up the vent and then spray painted it with Oil Rubbed Bronze.

It’s an economical way to update your floor vents without purchasing new ones.  We’ve done this in other rooms a few years ago and they still hold up great!

Since we are wanting a Vintage Farmhouse Powder Room, we install a beadboard half wall.

With the toilet removed, we easily tacked the beadboard in place.

We finished the rough top edge and corners with trim moulding. Then I painted the panels. It’s so much easier with the toilet removed than doing that weird bend around body contortion to try to reach behind the tank.

So we are chugging along wonderfully on this Vintage Farmhouse Powder Room and hopefully we will continue to make great progress this next week.

Our plan is to install the toilet and paint the sink cabinet base.

I’m stumped on ideas for the countertop and will hopefully find a solution soon, but I’ll leave that for another week.
