Easy DIY Lighting Ideas for Your Home

Looking for easy DIY ideas on how to update your lighting for your home without a lot of cost? Here’s our tricks as well as some amazing home decor/DIY posts from some of my friends.

I’m always trying to find a creative way to add my own flair to my home.

And it’s not always a hit! In fact, there are a lot of misses.

But a few have worked out and made it to our website.

(Some affiliate links are provided below. Full disclosure here.)

I’ve updated a few oldie but goodie blog posts this week.

And it’s all about lighting.

Like how to paint dated fixtures with spray paint.

Replacing light fixtures can be costly, so I’m sharing some diy light ideas to give your home decor a new look.

This week, I shared my Thrift Store Lamp Makeover where I took a $2 Lamp and gave it an update for our living room. Just a new lamp kit and a little elbow grease was all that was needed!

Here are few other DIY Lighting Projects we’ve tried:

There are so many creative ideas you can do with lamps and lighting. And most don’t cost a lot of money.

Check out this list to see if you can find inspiration for your next diy project:

  • Mason jars and fairy lights
  • Paper lanterns on your patio
  • DIY wine bottle torch made with old wine bottles
  • Glass bottles and tea lights for a rustic dining table centerpiece
  • Wooden poles and christmas lights for a magic evening outdoors

Happenings at Home

You saw the how I styled the simple project lamp above, right?

Well, let me show you how my room looked when you pan over to my desk.

Yup – that’s real life right there!

So, my friend, if you are up to your eyeballs in mess and clutter – remember you are not alone and I’m on this journey to purge with you!

We are in the throws of purge mode but the best part is that we are almost done!

A few hiccups (which include finding a huge storage container to sort through) has caused us a small set back, but it’s getting done little by little.

And we’ve had a bit of teen troubles this week. Boy, it’s such a hard age and we pray every day that we are guiding our amazing young men properly. It’s always a good idea to stop whatever you are doing to be there for your children.

One fun thing that happened this week was that Trent got to speak on a panel about his life as a touring drummer. You can read more of our personal story here.

New Projects

Since we are behind on finalizing our storage room, we still have yet to start the kitchenette.

I’m super duper excited about the copper sink we’re getting for this room makeover. It’s going to be an incredible project that you won’t want to miss!

And we’re still wrestling with what type of backsplash to install.

Even though we haven’t begun the kitchenette makeover, I’m already thinking about the next project for the year. Yeah, I’m making eyes at you, basement bathroom!

Favorites from the Week

It’s been super cold and rainy here in Birmingham this week, so have really been enjoying our updated fireplace. It was one of the easiest things we’ve ever done and I wish we would have done it sooner!

KariAnne from Thistlewood shared some awesome organizing tips.

I swooning over these kitchen trends.

And I stumbled upon this music tripod lamp that I would LOVE to make for our basement family room!

I’m curious to know what you think of these latest curb appeal ideas.

Here’s a way to make sure you don’t sabotage your morning routine.
