Christmas Home Tour {2016} Homes for the Holidays

Grab a cup of your favorite warm beverage and let’s visit a while as I show you my cozy, rustic Christmas home this season. I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Homes for the Holidays blog hop.

Hey y’all and welcome to our Almost Farmhouse!

Thank you Cindy from A Cottage Girl for all your hard work putting this together and hosting this incredible group of bloggers! If you are coming from Claire from The Rustic Pig’s beautiful home, welcome! Don’t you just love her hand painted signs?

Well, our halls have been decked, and the la’s have been fa’d and if you were here with me I’d sing you a beautiful carol and tell you how Buffalo Check has stolen my heart this season. Since I’m mad about the plaid, our home shows it!

My Almost Farmhouse is filled with vintage-y goodness and I wanted to keep with that theme and create a rustic, down-home kind of feel that makes you want to snuggle under blankets in front of the tree.  If you read my last post, you know that I’m crushing hard on the red and black this year and just had to have it splattered throughout my home.

Cozy and comfy is how I want to feel this Christmas season and nothing says warmth to me more than flannel. I bought a set of Buffalo Check flannel sheets from Walmart and have used them as an affordable way to make pillow covers for my couches.

Repurposing the fitted sheet as my tree skirt, I love how it looks.

I shared my DIY Holiday Wall Art that I made for less than $20 a few weeks ago, and it ties in perfectly with all the colors this year. Joy is just jumping from my walls!

Sparkles, plaid, knits and fur – can it be any cozier?

See that yummy tobacco basket? Earlier this year, I found that on a trip to my old Kentucky home for only $15! It adds such a rustic feel to the mantel with my stockings I purchased last year.

I have the tobacco basket’s cousin on the other side of the room with a sweet snowman I created from a grapevine wreath and wicker serving trays. The snowman’s gloves are old gift tags and they just make me giggle.

And Christmas wouldn’t be complete in our house without some Griswold fun, so I’ve displayed our moose mugs that my mother-in-law gave us with my vintage seltzer bottles.

So, I filled each mug with green and red marbles for a bit of tomfoolery! Next to this are my favorite French doors that made me buy our home.  I DIY-ed some wreaths for each door.

My blanket ladder is a perfect spot for the Buffalo Check throw blanket I made with leftovers from the sheet set used to make our pillows.

Let’s move into the kitchen, shall we?

It always amazes me how simple touches like a red and white ribbon make all the difference!

I replaced my artwork with simple printables I’ll share with you later this week.

I have a thing for snowmen, and they always are a part of my Christmas decor. This year, I styled my open farmhouse shelving with some of my favorites!

I found the cutest tea towels at Hobby Lobby with red stripes and pom-poms. While sewing my Christmas pillows, I stitched and skirted my Coffee Bar with the towels.

Who knew pom-poms could be so cute?

While I have all the comfy and coziness in my family room and kitchen, I created glitz and glam for our dining room, where I went with a silver and gold theme.

It’s like wearing heels and pearls with a flour covered apron. Down home, but high style.

Of course, my Christmas wouldn’t be complete without our inaugural Christmas ladder.  Each year, we set up our budget DIY tree using an old ladder. This is version 4.0 and is residing in our bay window.

It fits so perfectly with our vintage chandelier. And adding burlap ribbon and bows ties it back to the other rooms.

Red and black buffalo check in one part of my house, and glitz and glam and burlap in another.
