How to Decorate with Glass

Y’all know I love junkin’. But sometimes when the prices are too high, you learn to improvise. This is how I found my 25 cent demijohn.
Y’all know I crush on Milk Glass, but another item stops me in my tracks when I find them.
Vintage Glass Bottles
They are so dreamy, bright and clear, reflecting the light as it passes through, adding dimension without the bulk.
There is one glass item that I have hunted and hunted for with complete failure.
Demijohns
Do you know what they are? They are large, European, bulbous blown glass pieces with a narrow neck. Sometimes covered in wicker and they. are. HUGE!
I found this picture on Instagram that Rene from Painted Goodness shared on her page.
She has loads of yummy demijohns that she uses to style her awesome furniture.
When I finally came across some, they were really pricey – like hundreds of dollars kinda pricey. But, like I mentioned, they are huge, like too-big-to-put-in-a-house-with-boys kind of huge.
Way too expensive for my little budget, especially when I can think of all the other things I can buy at that price.
So the other day I went to a church yard sale and came across a steal!
No, this isn’t a demijohn, but it’s a wine bottle.
The label was faded, but it wasn’t vintage. Since it was only a quarter, I snatched it up right away. I came home and got out my goo remover and voila – insty-demijohn! A 25 cent demijohn!
Not to bad for quarter!
I paired it up with a rusty, old pulley I found for a couple of bucks and my
DIY Ballards Books.
Do you all decorate with glass? Have you come across a DIY steal that mimics an antique? I’d love to hear all about it – leave me a comment below. I love to hear from my readers.
Thanks for the invite! I loved linking up to your party! I will be sure to share my books at your next party!
Thanks, sweet friend! I'm so glad you visited!
I can't agree more – especially the vintage medicine bottles. I think of those from times past using them. Thanks for your sweet compliments and I love that you stopped by!

Jen, I love glass bottles as well and when styled so beautifully, they really look wonderful! Thanks for sharing your beautiful vignettes with us at Brag About It this week! Pinned to share!
I love your vignette. You will have to share your DIY Ballard Books at Celebrate Your Story, too! I currently have 3 large greenish glass bottles sitting on my hearth. I love the look of glass, but don't have the pretty pieces you have!
Beautiful and what a steal! Glad you finally got one! Blessings, Janet
I love glass bottles – they seem to tell a story of their own. Great displays very inviting and crisp.
