Cozy Farmhouse Christmas Entryway – Christmas Tour of Homes

Cozy Farmhouse Christmas Entryway - How I created a welcoming entry with old greenery and garland.

What do you want people to feel when they enter your home? Classy and posh? Hip and minimalistic?

I lean toward comfy and cozy.

My guests should feel free to make themselves at home, be it taking off their shoes, or fixing themselves a cup of coffee.

For that reason, I want that feeling to begin the moment they walk through my door.

Here’s how I made a cozy farmhouse Christmas entryway this season.

Before I go any further, I wanted to let you know that this post is part of a week long tour of homes, guaranteed to give you tons of holiday inspiration for you to deck your halls with.

So be sure to check out each of the homes – there is eye candy galore!

This year’s Christmas theme is comfy and cozy, as well as simple and budget friendly, which is equally as important. That means, using what I have on hand as much as possible, like I did with my Christmas Mantel.

Here are the supplies I had to work with:

Garland from previous years – different styles and lengths
Faux Greenery sprigs and branches
Ticking Fabric
Eucalyptus branches

Basically, you begin by gathering whatever christmas greenery you have. Lemme tell you, this garland is on it’s last leg, so we need to beef it up a bit.

  1. To begin with, I twisted two of my skimpy garland together to see how it worked. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Yup…..meh…
  2. I added another garland of different texture and now it’s looking better!
  3. Next came the sprigs and branches – just tuck them in where you need to fill in gaps or places that need some beefing up.
  4. Lastly, I added the eucalyptus for a bit of color and texture variation.

Simple and budget friendly!

Now its time to add the welcoming factor. Since I love the look of ticking stripe fabric, I had to add it to this entryway.

It takes me back to the era of ticking stripe bedding and instantly brings the feeling of warmth.

I didn’t have much fabric scraps on hand, so I tied a few pieces onto the garland.

For my Hall Tree, I added a simple, unadorned wreath and a mini tree.

I tied small strips of the ticking fabric to the tree branches.

One of the easiest ways to add warm is with a strand of simple wooden beads.

On my vintage theater seats sits a mix of velvet and knit pillows.

I stumbled upon this tiny knit pillow while digging through my old Christmas decor boxes. I got that pillow in the first years of our marriage and I love how it perfectly fits!

To emphasize the cozy feel, this plaid throw is just perfect – and it compliments the pillows nicely, doncha think?

Since I want people to feel free to kick off their shoes and relax – what better way to send that message than with a pair of Wellies sitting next to the door.

  2. It’s a beautiful entryway and I love what you did with the garland. I would never have thought to pair it with the eucalyptus but the contrast works really well together. May try this for my stair railings next year. Pinned.
