Does your house make New Years Resolutions? At this time of year, why not make goals for projects in your home? I thought it would be fun to share our Noting Grace Home Goals – 2019 edition!
Anytime you move, there’s a period of adjustment, emotionally and financially. Let’s face it – moving ain’t cheap!
So this move to our Birmingham home has been a challenge for me. I am constantly wandering from room to room, teeming with dreams and ideas for each space. We have lots of goals and a tiny amount of cash to accomplish this, so these ideas may be a bit lofty! But with a tight budget, we need to be intentional with our time and finances. So lots of creativity will be in play this year!
Ready to see what’s on the horizon?
Noting Grace Home Goals – 2019
- Limewash the exterior.
When we purchased our Meadow Brook home, it was on the tail end of lime washing our Tennessee home. I think the first thing out of our mouths was – “This home needs to be limewashed!”
We’ve already updated the front door, but there are oodles of ideas for our exterior, like a portico and covering the brick steps with decking for a farmhouse look, but for now – our goal this spring is to transform the exterior!
2. Makeover the Kitchen
The early 2000s Tuscany style kitchen with the glazed cabinets is in desperate need of updating. I’m still noodling around the ideas of color scheme, but there’s a catch.
We can’t afford the big ticket items just yet. So we will need to bring this up to date without spending too much money.
While I’d love new countertops and a backsplash, that’s not in the budget. And I think a can of paint could make a huge difference in this room!
3. Refreshing the sunroom
Beige and bland.
I’m ready to ditch the blinds, add some curtains and brighten this room with a creamy, warm white.
It’s a sunroom and meant to be sunny!
4. Building a pantry
As it is right now, our pantry is exposed, showing all it’s dirty secrets to those who pass by.
I’d love to install some tall cabinets to hide all the boxes behind. While I think the open shelving is in it’s heyday, I’m kind of over it.
So doors are a must.
5. Painting, Painting and Painting
Most of our home is painted from the previous owners in Revere Pewter – a classic hue, but I think I want more variation.
Our Tennessee home was monochromatic and I’d like to add a bit more variety to this home.
Not to mention the fact that painting is super cheap and easy to do!
6. Making over our Bedroom
Accent walls, farmhouse trim around the windows, beams in the ceiling.
Big plans – but this is an iffy idea. It all comes down to the money! If there’s room for this makeover, I’d love to see this transformation soon, but it may be a trickle down process, working on a bit here and there, instead of a complete room overhaul.
7. Of course projects!
Noting Grace Home Goals – 2019 edition would not be complete without a few furniture flips.
I’m planning on making over my hutch, building a wall mounted TV Box, and have plans to recover another chair. Plus, I’m on the hunt for a small table to DIY into an eat-in kitchen area.
So, that’s our list for 2019. A bit lofty but I think having goals keeps you driven to create a home that you love.
