Staging a Master Bathroom – Decluttering and Organizing

Organizing and decluttering your home can be so freeing! And it’s relatively simple. Staging a bedroom is easy. But what about the Master Bath?  I’ll show you some tricks on how Staging a Master Bathroom can be more appealing to a buyer.

Our Master Bedroom in our Vegas home was huge – taking up the entire length of the house, so it was wide and spacious with an equally large Master Bath.  I wanted to make sure this area of my home looked cozy and welcoming to anyone coming to view my house.

Let’s start with my Master Bedroom

Here’s the before:

Cluttered wall art, personal photos and knick-knacks and a couch in the corner of the room that didn’t make much sense.  Here’s how we changed it.

Not much changed.  We removed the couch and a few pictures, but it was such a simple fix, we had this room staged in a matter of moments, looking much more open, welcoming, and less personalized.

Not it’s ready for the next owner!

What about the Master Bath?

Did you know that all your stuff is on display? We have all heard about clearing the countertops, but what about the insides of drawers??

Don’t miss this!!

Potential buyers will be opening cabinets, medicine chests, and under sink storage and drawers to see if it’s roomy enough for them.

So that means all your stuff is on display for the world to see.

Did that freak you out like it freaked me out? I think I hyperventilated a bit on that one!

Staging a Master Bathroom

First, I started by removing everything from my drawers, medicine cabinet and under the sink.

By sorting through the items, you first determine what you need and what you don’t use.  By doing this, your cabinets appear bigger offering loads of storage without much effort other than the momentary mess!

*TIP* When putting your home on the market, please, please lock up your medicines, especially if you plan on having an open house.  The latest crime wave is to raid the cabinets for prescription meds, so put them away!

Let me show the difference a little bit of organizing makes. My medicine cabinet before:

And after:

Less cluttered, clean, and I still have everything I need.

My makeup drawer before:

Yikes!! How could I find anything in that mess?!

And the After:

Much neater and things are more concealed.

Underneath my sink before:

Messy, messy, messy!

And the After:

Using bins help keep items contained and gives the illusion of more space!

And in the process of cleaning out, I found a hidden treasure! A huge loot of cash that I had stored away years ago before we went on a trip!  So long ago, I had forgotten all about it. SCORE!

The truth of the matter is, when your home is on the market, you are on display and will need to make every detail of your home appealing to the next owner.

And friends, I have not missed all of those toiletries like I thought I would. I kept a few of my favorite nail polishes and makeup and put the rest with our storage. This has been so life changing that I’m implementing this from now on.

So a brief moment of this:

Can make a huge difference in your bottom line!

  1. With few changes and little effort in organization, you'll be assured that the prospective home buyer will have a positive impression on your house. It's better to arrange things properly, even the smaller details, if you really want to sell your house as soon as possible. Moreover, you increase the value of your home with proper staging. Thanks for the tips! 🙂

  2. These are really great tips! I think so many people forget what house hunter actually look at when they are planning to put their home on the market.

  3. The Bedroom color was still somewhat in the neutral-ish family so we didn't bother with it. I did choose to forgo any Master Bath painting. It's such a small room that we focused on the larger rooms. Plus, I'll reveal the boy's bathroom in a few days – that really needed the makeover.

  4. That's cool you found the cash…score! I've been enjoying your series. I am curious what did your realtor say about the non neutral colors in your master bedroom and bath?
